Every year, in my little community, we have a Fourth of July parade. It is led by local firemen in a giant fire truck, complete with flashing lights and the rest of the parade is mostly children on bicycles and families in golf carts, all carefully and painstakingly decorated in red, white, and blue.

It is a singularly joyful and heat-warming event that I look forward to every year. Standing outside of the garage, awaiting the parade this year, I noticed my husbands motorcycle (the one I refuse to ride on until my children and grown and independent) and decided we should hop on and join the parade. My mister is nothing if not spontaneous and quickly grabbed a small American flag, taped it to the motorcycle and off we went to join the parade. We caught up with the it just as it was beginning and we made the entire loop through the neighborhood bringing up the rear of the parade, far back enough that we didn't make the children uneasy with the roar of the engine. The fourth of July is my very favorite day of the year in my neighborhood. As corny as it may be, my heart grows full at the sight of the houses decorated with flags and people dressed in red, white, and blue.
I think the 4th is great; we all get the day off; we get to drop M80's down toilets, drink beer, watch porn and generally enjoy life.

dickhead,
Thanks for stopping by. I imagine that with a personality like yours, you have lots and lots of free time, alone, to do these things.
Not much of an intellectual, are you?

The haughty condescending left are out in full force, I see. Our president is an utter disgrace and all folks like dh (an appropriate moniker) can do is mock the people who tried to hold together a semblance of normalcy this Fourth of July. Spoiled little leftist brats want to burn the world to see if the ashes turn into pixie dust, and the people who rightfully ignore them and desire leading a semi-normal life of prosperity and peace are not deplorable rubes to be mocked at every occasion.
Let me clue you in, dickhead, what you saw on the Fourth of July and at the tea parties are NORMAL people who want to lead their own happy, productive lives. If you side with the Demoncrats who want to impose their statist agenda on middle class Americans to bring them into obeisance to the state, then you my friend, are a detestable louse who needs to be plucked from your parasitic nest and taken to a habitat where you'll feel more comfortable, perhaps like North Korea.

Not much I can add to the responses by Nora & RJ! Your motorcycle ride looked like it would be fun, and I'm sure the residents who lined the street for the parade were delighted to wave as you passed by!

Thanks, pianogirl. It was so cheerful and lovely, I can't begin to express it. It is a pity that lefties and dh, are missing the part of the soul (and brain) that 'gets' it. There is a joyfulness among religious people and patriots that I never see from the secular left. No wonder they are such haters. I hope you had a nice fourth.

I was amazed to see all the neighbors come out and party together at the pool and in the street. Everyone had smiles and were very social. Many shared their food and drink as well as sparklers and other fireworks.
Not in my neighborhood, but my girlfriend's. My neighborhood is about 60% first generation immigrant. Holidays like the 4th of July and Halloween I tend to spend outside my neighborhood.
