I miss having the type of president who does noble things without needing a camera present. And I miss having the type of First Lady who uses her presence to give comfort instead of admonish and berate. The Bushes are not perfect but they personify some of the best traits a person could have. They (quite unlike our current Fist Couple) are compassionate and humble people who know how to give of themselves. *sigh*

George W. Bush Visits Fort Hood, Wounded Soldiers

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) ― Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited wounded soldiers and their families near the site of the worst mass shooting on an Army post in the United States.
The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center on Friday night. Bush spokesman David Sherzer said in an e-mail that the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."
An Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, is accused of killing 13 people and wounding 30 in a shooting rampage Thursday at a Soldier Readiness Processing Center on the post.
Hasan was wounded by a civilian police officer and was taken into custody.

Thank you. I didn't know about the Bushes' visit. I miss them.

According to Debbie Schlussel, Jenna told Larry King that she would vote for Obama. But surely she must not like it when Obama blames her father for everything that's wrong in the world? And, her husband's father is/was a Republican politician.
The thing is, do you ever hear about a Dem politician's child who votes Republican? I can't think of any.
