I saw this definition of a blog and thought it was not only extremely accurate but it got me thinking about why those of us who blog about ourselves and our lives do it. Are we closet exhibitionists who have found a socially acceptable way to say, "Hey, look at me!" After all, my blog is not exactly disseminating important information. At least not important in any useful way except to my beloved friends who have a relationship with me. I began my blog because I thought it would be a great way for my friends in California to see what we are up to when we moved to the jungle. I expected my friends would be my only audience and I approached writing with them in mind. To my surprise and delight, I now have more readers than friends and I've received comments from all types of people from unexpected places. And now, I am hooked. Addicted to self-disclosure. Comforted and honored by the knowledge that there are folks out there interested in my little life and opinions. And so, although I am back in the states for awhile, I will continue my little blog. I will continue to write until I run out of things to say or until my readers jump ship. And that's all I have to say about that.
