"None of the four wars in my lifetime came about because we were too strong. It's weakness that invites adventurous adversaries to make mistaken judgments. America is the most peaceful, least warlike nation in modern history. We are not the cause of all the ills of the world. We're a patient and generous people. But for the sake of our freedom and that of others, we cannot permit our reserve to be confused with a lack of resolve."
Ronald Reagan (1984)
I guess he hasn't been corrupted by his friend Ashley Judd.
Just saw that Palin endorsed Fiorina. : (

It seems to me that Freeman is far too smart to be influenced by a vapid, though beautiful actress.
Sad that Palin endorsed Fiorina. Not the first time she's endorsed someone I didn't support.

Nora darling, I love this video. Your followers must be way ahead of the curve, because none of my 1k+ fb friends posted that Palin had endorsed Fiorina. She's an airhead a lot of the time, so whaddya expect. Damn shame. Maybe she figures that the Libs hate everything she touches, and maybe Carly will go down in flames.

Oh, well. I'm not much of a Huckabee admirer, but at least he came out for DeVore without checking to see which way the wind was blowing.

David,
Yes, my readers, especially KS, are very well informed.
KS,
Interesting you should say that about Huckabee, he was never my guy either but I do think he is sharp (no one was more quick during the debates) and has moral clarity.

We tend to forget that there is no such thing as the "perfect" politician...those of us on the "right" side of things tend to drop our support for pols in a heartbeat if they don't agree with our particular view of things. The dems have learned how to have that long view, to take things in increments, and it's easy to see (as we look back on the past 20-25 years) just how they've managed to run this country into the ground by taking small steps to get to the bigger prize. They may have had some battles in primaries, but when it counts, they close ranks behind the candidate and do their best to get the person elected. I have no idea why Sarah Palin is supporting Carly Fiorina ~ maybe she thinks she has a better chance of winning than DeVore, but maybe it's something else. Some of my FB friends have "unfriended" themselves from Sarah's FB page because of this endorsement, but I don't think we can afford to do something like that. The outcome of this next election is too important to write off someone who has a different opinion than ours. I'm sort of glad I'm going on a "news fast" for a couple of weeks when I'm out of the country ~ watching CNN in the hotel room is not conducive to keeping my blood pressure under control!
BTW, the video with Morgan Freeman is excellent!

piano girl, I will vote for the Republican candidate in November but I will continue to support DeVore through the primary.
I admire Sarah Palin, but I am not a fanatic about her like the bloggers at Conservatives 4 Palin. If a brilliant writer like Dorothy Rabinowitz points out a weakness in Palin, the bloggers there label her column a "hit piece." It's almost funny. Now they're suggesting that DeVore is a spoiler and it will be his fault if Campbell wins. Please. Palin's endorsement of Fiorina did not transform DeVore into a spoiler.
Anyway, that's my two cents. Have a wonderful trip. : )
